My family and I are Orlando locals and we often go to Disney, but this past Monday, July 16, the family decided to do something a little different. As we were driving to EPCOT, we decided to take a detour to The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort before going to the theme parks. My parents and sister had been here previously, but this was my first time on the grounds.
We took a bus from the parking area to the back of the grounds at Bay Lake. Prior to arriving at the lake, they have stables with horses, ponies, and clydesdales which were amazing. Once we walked around the grounds a bit, we headed over to the lake, where we rented a pontoon boat for an hour. The staff was super helpful, helped us get settled in our boat, and sent us off after they explained the guidelines to us. We got to pass in front of the Magic Kingdom, rode close to the Polynesian Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, and we had a fun time out on the lake. In regular Disney fashion, the boats were clean, they looked new, the inside had a radio with speakers, life vests, cushioned seats, and lots of compartments to keep safe anything you had.
It was definitely worth the trip out there and I would highly recommend this as an activity to do on your trip to Disney World.
