In the summer of 2019, I was contracted to photograph Becca and Jordan’s wedding in December. In my wedding packages, I always include an Engagement shoot. When possible, I like to get to know the couple before the wedding day by photographing an engagement shoot for them. It helps us get familiar with each other so that when we get to the wedding day, we can eliminate the variable of meeting each other for the first time.
I met Caitlin in December 2019 when she was a bridesmaid at one of the weddings I photographed. Without a clue that she was getting married herself, Caitlin reached out to me that same month after the wedding needing a photographer for her own wedding later in 2020.
I met Adam and Gina in April 2022 when they reached out to me needing a wedding photographer. I photographed their engagement in June 2022 and two weeks later, it was their wedding day. My task on this day was to document everything from beginning to end through photographs.
In April 2022, Adam reached out to me needing a wedding photographer. He was referred to me by a mutual contact from New York City. I had already moved to Orlando, FL by April and was no longer living in NYC at the time, but I’m always happy to travel when the job requires it.
I met Brett and Brittany in December 2019 when one of Brittany’s family members who is in the wedding industry referred them to my photography services for their wedding. They had recently gotten engaged and were searching for a photographer for their big day.
I was asked to return to TC to photograph a ceremony in June that was halted by COVID-19 for two years - their Staff Recognition Ceremony. It was a 2-day celebration of faculty and staff who have been at the college for anywhere from 10 to 55+ years. I photographed this event on my own and was glad to be called in for this project. I had a great time covering the event. Here is some of what I captured.
I attended Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City both as a full-time and part-time student from 2013-2017. During my time at the college, I worked as a Student Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs, where I did some photography and graphic design work. In September 2019, I was asked to photograph their new student orientation for a third year and here is some of what I captured.

In May 2021, the Hernandez family took a trip out west to California. As a family, we had never been West of Chicago, Illinois and that was around 20 years ago. As a family, we were excited to see nature and God’s creation on this trip. Our plans included experiencing Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks.
Fashion/Style Photoshoot with Ligia Wanderley in Winter Park, FL. Christian Hernandez Photography.
I met Whitney while in Graduate school. We both attended the same college and she reached out to me to capture some images of herself and her rescue, Brady. I first photographed Whitney and Brady in Central Park in 2017, then again in the upper East Side in 2018, and again in Central Park in 2019.
A collection of photographs I took while walking around New York City in September 2019.
I recently photographed a children’s birthday party and had a blast capturing the memories. I’ve thought about my previous experiences photographing children and saw an improvement in my confidence level on this shoot, as well as with my level of skill photographing kids that are constantly moving around.
A few weeks ago, I decided to purchase a film camera for a couple of reasons: To learn a new medium, stretch my creativity, and have fun continuing to learn and pursue photography. Until now, I only had experience shooting digital. With digital, you really have an unlimited amount of photos you can take - you’re only really limited by the size of your memory card. The camera will continue to shoot so long as you have battery and storage space. Film photography has a different look and feel than digital, but in addition to the aesthetics, film forces the photographer to be more careful and methodical compared to digital photography.
Earlier this year, Pete reached out to me to let me know Sierra’s family was throwing them a baby shower in Florida. They live in New York City and have been good friends of mine for about 5 years. I hadn’t seen them in about a year, so when I heard they were coming down, I said I’d love to be there!
A few months ago, I photographed Neemo and Trent on their Prom day for some Portraits. Apart from the traditional prom poses, I treated the shoot like a couple’s photoshoot and captured them being a couple. Their theme was Black & Gold and both were dressed to impress.
Last month, I had the opportunity to photograph one of my co-workers. Hillary and Matt wanted some details and wide photos of their nursery, as well as some maternity shots before the baby was due. They had prepared and decorated a beautiful space for their baby boy to grow in and wanted to commemorate it with some photos.
Recently, I got the opportunity to photograph another one of my friend’s engagement. I met Kyle a little less than a year ago at a Men’s group from church and he recently reached out to me to see if I’d be available to photograph his upcoming engagement.
In late April, a good friend asked me to photograph his upcoming June engagement in New York City. I happily obliged and we captured some great images (seen here). During that trip, I took some time to walk around the city once again, as well as share some time with old friends from the church community I attended when I lived in NYC.
In late April, Cecil - a good friend from church - told me he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend Ally and asked if I would photograph his engagement in June in New York City. Without hesitation, I said a big YES!
I met Alpa in July 2018 when I offered to take some photos for her blog. She's a fashion/style influencer that works with some major brands and is an expert at what she does. This time, we met up at Lake Nona for a very quick shoot around the area.
I never set goals. Believe me - at the beginning of the year, nor at any other point in the year do I set goals. But since I now had time to think about what I wanted the rest of my year to look like, I set some goals for my business back in May. Since then, I’m surprised at how many of those I’ve been fortunate to have achieved. By God’s grace and provision, and with the support of my family and friends, I have thankfully been able to check several of those off my list. Here are 4 that I’m really proud of.
Several months ago, MJ reached out to me for some family photos around Disney World property. We captured some great moments and when she returned for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade in December, she wanted to keep the memories alive with some photos.
For years, our family has been opening Christmas gifts on December 24th. On the 25th, we usually go to my mom’s cousin’s house and shoot pellet guns at targets, eat some food, and be around family. This year, that’s what we did once again.
In addition to weddings, one other type of photography I’ve been doing more of lately is family photography. The Carmany’s reached out to me for a family portrait session at their home for this year’s Christmas cards. All included, we had 6 kids ranging in ages from small children to adults, and we took photos both indoors and outdoors. The day was a bit overcast and it actually rained at one point, but thankfully we were able to capture some genuine moments that made for great photos.
After getting together for a Walt Disney World shoot, Amanda got in touch with me again for some photos with her dog Genevieve. Genevieve is 12 years old and has cancer. Amanda has had her dog for a long time and since she is undergoing surgery soon, Amanda wanted some pet portraits prior to the surgery.
This year for Black Friday, instead of shopping for things we don’t really need and can’t really afford, my family went to the beach for some family portraits. We drove about an hour to New Smyrna Beach and took some photos we’ll use for this years Christmas cards. Here is some of what we captured.
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to assist in photographing a wedding. Once that the images have been finalized, I’ve been reflecting on my journey and I am enjoying seeing the improvements in my technique as well as my level of confidence with every new shoot.
My previous blog post was about capturing Becca and Jordan’s engagement photos. After capturing their engagement photos, the next thing to do was photograph their wedding day.
