Two of my grandparents had been wanting to drive up to St. Augustine for a few months now. So yesterday, my sister and I drove the 2 hours up north from Orlando to take them and spend the day walking around the town. St. Augustine, Florida is a old town rich with history. With the title of "the oldest city in the nation," it has a small-town feel and has lots of stores, restaurants, and sights to entertain locals and visitors alike.

I took my camera with me to capture the trip. While walking around, I saw textures, details, and decorations around that drew me to photograph them. Aside from photographing the day, my self-imposed artistic challenge this time was to capture more of the details in my surroundings. I typically don't, so this seemed to be a great time to stretch myself creatively and capture something different.

Once parked, we arrived at the Visitor Information Center and after seeing what they had, we began walking the town. We found two antique shops and decided to look around inside.

We then walked about 10 minutes from where the antique stores were to get to the town.

We were getting hungry and were on a mission to find a specific restaurant my grandparents had been wanting to go to. When we found what we were looking for, we sat down and had our meal. I didn't take photos of my food for once and just enjoyed it, so photos of the ambience will have suffice. The food was great by the way.

After our meal, I took a couple of portraits of my grandparents and while the girls shopped, grandpa and I stayed outside the stores and shot photos of the area.

We then crossed the street and headed to Castillo de San Marcos - the oldest masonry fort in the US.

And that was our trip to St. Augustine. We had a good time and I'm glad I was able to capture it in photos. :)
